The government has reduced the quarantine: Seven days are enough, plus three days of strict protection measures
The Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia at today's 7th regular session adopted a decision on reducing the isolation period for persons in whom the presence of KOVID-19 has been laboratory determined as well as the period of self-isolation / quarantine of persons who were in close contact with a confirmed case of KOVID-19.
According to these recommendations, persons who are laboratory confirmed on KOVID-19 (by PCR test or rapid antigen test), and who have not developed symptoms of the disease, ie are asymptomatic cases of KOVID-19, are given home isolation for seven days from the day of testing. After the end of the isolation period, it is necessary for an additional three days to strictly observe the personal protection measures (wearing protective mask N95 / FFP2 when staying indoors with other persons or outdoors when a distance of two meters can not be kept, frequent disinfection on hands, avoiding grouping).
For individuals who have been laboratory confirmed on KOVID-19 (by PCR test or rapid antigen test), and who have developed a clinical picture appropriate to the virus, ie are symptomatic cases to be isolated for seven days from the day of testing plus three consecutive days if the person has no fever.
According to these changes, the persons who had close contacts on confirmed cases of KOVID-19 are referred to home self-isolation / quarantine for seven days from the day of the last contact with the confirmed case, and after the end of the self-isolation / quarantine period, additional three days to strictly observe personal protection measures.
Exception to the home self-isolation / quarantine measure for those persons who meet one of the following criteria:
- Vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine with two or three doses, and not more than six months have passed since the last dose;
- Passed with COVID-19, and the positive test is not older than six months;
- The persons who are close contacts, and who due to the fulfillment of the above criteria are excluded from self-isolation / quarantine, must comply with the measures for personal protection within a period of 10 days from the last contact with the confirmed case.
The date of the last contact with the confirmed case is considered zero day.
