As part of its anti-inflation policy, Vienna's city authorities will provide all tenants of the 220.000 city-owned apartments with financial assistance of half the monthly net rental price in September this year.

This is an additional bonus, within the framework of which the city hall plans to distribute a total of 55 million euros among the residents. This financial injection will free about half a million citizens from paying rent. As an additional measure, the city's apartment management company Wiener Vonen will provide another financial bonus at the end of the year for tenants whose rent has increased in the period 2022-2023. The actual amount of this assistance will depend on the rate of increase that occurred during the specified period.

The last measure consists in facilitating the procedure for negotiating rent payment agreements. This should help those tenants who are in arrears and are at risk of losing their housing, Fena said.
