The Interior Ministry said that debris from a drone killed two men and a woman in the central region of Kiev and wounded another person. The attack damaged a multi-storey apartment building, eight private houses, commercial buildings and several passenger cars, regional authorities in Kiev said.
The Ukrainian Air Force said it had shot down 25 of 58 Russian drones and that 27 other drones were "lost" because Kiev used electronic hardware to redirect them.
As the war approaches its third year, Russia has stepped up its airstrikes on Ukraine, sending dozens of drones almost every night.
Ukrainian authorities said Russian forces launched more than 7.000 drones in 2024, at least double the number in 2023. Most of them were shot down or redirected by electronic warfare, but many still hit their targets.
Moscow denies firing on civilian targets.
