After 35 years of the cult film "How Rock and Roll Failed", the "PopBooks" publishing house hired her Vladislava Vojnović to prepare an extensive book in honor of that musical-film masterpiece. The book, which was a hit at the just-concluded Belgrade Book Fair, is the central topic of the conversation we had with Vladislava, a playwright, writer and producer by profession.

One of the things that colored the magical eighties of the last century in the former Yugoslavia was the film and soundtrack "How Rock and Roll Died". This extremely entertaining omnibus by the directorial trio Goran Gajic, Zoran Pezo and Vladimir Slavica, and three top musicians – Vlada (Divljan), Koja (Dusan Kojic) and Gile (Srdjan Gojkovic) is a story about a disco ninja, about a Barbara who wants to watches a video, until the colors melt, and about an Eva who wants to become a mother.
Thirty-five years after the film, the PopBooks publishing house hired Vladislava Vojnović to prepare an extensive book in honor of that musical-film masterpiece. That was the starting point for the conversation with Vladislava...

- At that time, we all thought that "How Rock and Roll Died" was a good movie, but not that it was an unprecedented miracle. These are three short stories by three young directors, and that there will be better ones to come as we head towards the bright future. But the end came and we never saw that bright future - says Vladislava for "Sloboden Pechat".

She is a playwright, writer and film producer by profession. At the invitation of the responsible people at "PopBox" - Predrag Popović and Goran Tarlac, two years ago he started editing the book about the movie "How Rock and Roll Failed". Today, with the title "Give, grandma, head!", we have an extensive reading spread over 400 pages. The title is a continuation of the line "Green tooth despises fame - Give it, grandma, head!"

Zeleni Zub is of course Koja, the first man of the cult "Spine Discipline", one of the pioneers of the new wave in Yugoslavia. The author of part of the music and one of the main characters in the film.

- Who is in London and the text about him, or rather the interview with him that is in the book, was not done by me, but Predrag Buca Popović, who also spends most of his time in London, spoke. It is the first announcement of Koja after several years... - reveals Vojnović.

Vladislava and I tried to guess what the secret of the success of the movie "How Rock and Roll Failed" was. She believes that of the films shot in Yugoslavia at the time, it is the only one that tried to resemble a foreign film...

– There were young romantic, witty and daring photogenic people. Everyone at that time wanted to be like that. But everything failed, as it failed, so the next generation said to us: "Blessed are you how you lived", and we didn't live like that at all, except for an insignificantly small percentage of people. And it's all a fairy tale - thinks Vladislava.

The book "Daj, babo, glavu!" was a real hit at the Belgrade Book Fair, which took place last week.

- I advise everyone to buy the book, if they can, to buy it for someone as a gift, for someone they love, who has such interests. And then, when people notice how expensive the book is, I advise them to steal it. Because it is not a shame for a man to steal something that he really needs and really wants, provided that what he wants is not money or diamonds. I think it's rock and roll to steal a book and that's a good way to do it. The book is selling well, despite being expensive. I don't have any accurate statistics, I'm not an accountant, and you should ask Goran Tarlac about that. They surely know how the book fared at the Fair... - says Vladislava.

Ms. Vojnović is currently finishing her latest novel. We remember her for the success story "The Paper Prince", which we also saw on film, as well as for the script for the popular series and film "Goat Ears". He was also a co-writer for the film "How the Germans Stole Me".

- Our daughter Militsa is currently doing a master's degree in directing, and if something is done on the screen again, it will be to help her. The audience has already seen her in the role of the niece of the main character in the movie "Goat's Ears", and in the movie "The Paper Prince" she played the main role. With my husband, Milos Spasojevic, who is a director of photography by profession and who won the Sturmberg in Berlin in those old days for "The Harms Case", we have a small production company "Lux Film", and every 10 years we do something, when we will manage to fight for some funds - reveals Vladislava Vojnović in the conversation for "Sloboden Pechat".
