VIDEO INTERVIEW | Matijaz Nemets: Serbia is an important partner for us, but Vucic wants to play the role of Tito

Member of the European Parliament - Matthias Nemets

Matijaz Nemets was elected in the European elections in Slovenia as the only MEP from the ruling social democrats. In the past MEP mandate, Matijaz Nemets was one of the loudest MEPs who advocated for the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU as soon as possible.

- There are skeptics in the EU, but I always ask them, what would the EU be today in the context of the current war in Ukraine if Bulgaria and Romania were not our members? What would have happened on the continent if these two countries had been left out of European integration - says Nemets in an interview with Sloboden Pechat.

He believes that Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania have chances to quickly become members. He is skeptical about Serbia because, as he says, Vucic wants to play the role of Tito.
