VIDEO INTERVIEW | Gabriela Novevska before the first solo concert: I am impatient to stand on the stage
Gabriela Novevska's album "Te kajzajet Illino mome" will receive its concert promotion tonight on the big stage of the National Opera and Ballet. Novevska is the vocalist of the group "Monistra" and part of the ensemble "Dance". Many people compare her singing with the voice of Vanja Lazarova, so it's no wonder if you hear them calling her her successor.
This evening has a special meaning for Novevska because her first solo concert will take place.
- I am excited and impatient, I am waiting with my soul to stand on the stage. I have been working hard on this project for almost two years and I hope that this music will be accepted by the audience. I did not want the Macedonian folk song to lose its value, we tried our best to keep the original, but in order to refine and bring this music closer to the new generations, we added elements of rock and jazz. In this way, I think that the songs can be preserved - she says about Free Press.
One year after the album was released in honor of the centenary of the birth of the doyen of Macedonian original music, Aleksandar Sarievski, Novevska decided to sing the compositions live in front of the audience.
- In addition to the songs that were on the album, we will supplement the concert with music, which I will not reveal, the idea is that those present in the hall enjoy it to the maximum - the singer clarifies.
Regarding the fact that she is often compared to the big name Vanja Lazarova, our interlocutor says that she is flattered by this compliment.
– It's flattering that they call me that. I don't want to copy anyone, but maybe the fact that from the very beginning, when I was learning singing, I regularly listened to Vaska Ilieva and Vanja Lazarova, the way they sing, how they position the throat, maybe because of frequent listening now a part of them is noticeable in me - Novevska explains.
