VIDEO: The Vodno cable car is safe to use, controls are made every day

The cable car at Sredno Vodno which after a break of almost two years, before the New Year holidays was put into use, is safe and secure to use. It was not in operation due to the coronavirus, and due to a defect as we often knew to hear or read, he said today at the Utrinski briefing the manager of the cable car, Boris Ivanoski.

- In the past two years, continuous testing was performed according to the manufacturer's recommendations and according to domestic safety laws. Testing, servicing and inspections were performed regularly. In September, we performed a regular technical inspection, and every day we perform a regular check of the safety of the cable car. In addition, checks are made regularly, weekly, monthly and annually, by an accredited external company. Before putting the cable car into use, we had an inspection which also confirmed that the cable car is in good function and can work, explains Ivanoski.

They received a protocol for work during the pandemic from the Commission for Infectious Diseases.

- We work with 50 percent capacity, which means that in one cabin there can be only four passengers plus children, because they are not included in the protocol. Temperature is measured before entering the cabin, and wearing protective masks is mandatory, says Ivanovski

In case of power failure, auxiliary drive is put into operation.

- If we happen to run out of electricity, the auxiliary drive is activated, in order to empty the route, ie to release the people who are stuck in the cabins. "We had a situation where in less than five minutes all the passengers left the cabins safely," he said.

Although the cable car opens at ten o'clock, the daily preparations start at eight o'clock. Before the first passengers enter the cabin, the cable car runs on a trial basis with maintenance staff. The last ride in the peak is until 16.30, ie 16.45 from the top to Sredno Vodno. About 2.000 tickets were sold yesterday alone.

- The cable car works every day except Monday and the last Tuesday of the month, due to a detailed inspection of the cable car, says our interlocutor.
