A wild bear entered a residential area in Japan today and injured four people, after which it was killed, Japanese television NHK reported.
A resident of Sapporo, who is set to host the Olympic marathon and Olympic sprint this year, was the first to see a bear on the street in the early hours of the morning. writes CNN.
Shortly afterwards, Hokkaido police wrote on Twitter that the search for the bear had begun.
- If you notice a bear, be very careful, leave the area immediately and call 110, warned the police.
Footage released by local HTB Hokkaido News shows the bear running down the street, crossing a busy road and scratching the front door of a barracks, after which it fled.
Police later said the bear attacked three men, one of whom was seriously injured, and a woman in her 80s. Two men from a local hunting club shot the bear around 11 a.m. near Sapporo Airport.
