Hadis Najafi, a 20-year-old woman shot and killed by Iran's security forces, has become the latest symbol of the tragedy, outpouring of grief and defiance that has characterized Iran's nationwide protests since they began on September 16. Iranian media.

Journalist and women's rights advocate Masih Alinejad announced Najafi's death on September 25, posting her name and a video of her along with the details of her death: shot six times by authorities after she tied her hair without a headscarf and boldly stepped into the middle of a protest in Karaj.

Hadith's pictures and video have been widely shared on social media. According to media reports, she suffered injuries to her stomach, neck, heart and arm on September 21. After the attack by the security forces, she was taken to Gaem Hospital, where she later died.

"He was only 20 years old," said Hadis' sister. “Her heart was broken for Mahsa Amini. She said she will not be silent. They killed her with six bullets."

Almost 200 miles away in Rasht, reports emerged that an archeology student arrested during the protests had been denied access to medical treatment after suffering a knife attack at Lakan Prison in Sabze Maidan, Rasht.

The family of Alireza Gamgosar, who studies at Kashan University, says he is now being treated in a clinic. They say Gamgassar told them during a phone call on September 25 that he was stabbed in the back after he was taken into custody on September 21. There are no details about the attack or who stabbed him.

Official media in Iran have reported that 35 people have died during the recent protests, but non-Iranian media and other unofficial reports insist the death toll is much higher.
