The Belarusian Arina Sabalenka started his performance at Roland Garros with a victory, triumphing against Marta Kostyuk from Ukraine with a convincing 2:0.

Sabalenka did not allow any surprises, so she allowed her opponent only five games in total in both sets, three in the first, two in the second. The final outcome was expected, but not the behavior of the Ukrainian tennis player after the match.

Kostyuk refused to greet Sabalenka because of Belarus' support for Russia in the war in Ukraine.
