VIDEO | Stojkoski: We will sanction all those who throw garbage in the cleaned landfill

Aleksandar Stojkoski, Mayor of Gjorce Petrov

We are still working on clearing the waste from the landfill in Novo Selo, which according to the announcements of the mayor of Gjorce Petrov, Aleksandar Stojkoski, will be turned into a park with recreational facilities.

- Field activities will continue in the next period, although they have been going on for a long time. We plan to plant trees and provide conditions for sports and recreational life. The goal is to revive the space and turn it from a landfill into a place for socialization of the local population, said Stojkoski today at the morning briefing.

The area of the landfill is about 6,6 hectares, part of the garbage is transferred to Drisla, while clean soil is used to level the surface.

According to the mayor, a bigger challenge than the cleaning itself will be the maintenance of the landfill.

- There will be intensified inspection controls by the inspection services and the communal wardens. We will be very rigorous in the part of sanctions for all those who will try to re-deposit garbage of different nature. Surveillance cameras will be installed, and I appeal to the local population to help us in detecting the perpetrators, with video and photo materials, after which we will act in coordination with the police station Gjorce Petrov. Because we can not clean as much as unscrupulous citizens can deposit waste, adds Stojkoski.

He says that last month they repaired the pedestrian path on the quay of Vardar, applied for the construction of a new kindergarten in Stopanski Dvor, and will examine the possibilities for upgrading new facilities within existing kindergartens.

- We inherited many challenges in terms of started and unrealized projects, but also in the area of finance. I am trying to realize the projects for asphalting the streets that were started, it is in the public interest of the citizens to complete all the already started works, emphasizes the mayor Aleksandar Stojkoski.
