Official Serbia was furious today because at the carnival in Kaštela near Split, Croatia, a model with the image of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was burned, along with a doll of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After Serbian tabloids published the burning of the doll with Vucic's image, the head of Serbian diplomacy today condemned the act and sent a note of protest to the Croatian embassy in Belgrade, his office said.

"I strongly condemn the incident that happened on February 13, 2024, during the traditional carnival procession, in the village of Kastel Stari in the Republic of Croatia," said Dacic.

According to his assessment, burning a doll with the face of Vucic is an absolutely unacceptable act, which is in complete contradiction to the jointly expressed commitment to full normalization of relations and improvement of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

"This scandalous act of spreading hatred sends a message that in no way contributes to strengthening good-neighborly relations, peace and stability in the region and directly and seriously disrupts the relations between the two countries.

Vucic spoke today about the burning of the doll with his image.

"I saw it, they sent it to me before I arrived in Nis." Someone will say that it is sad that you burn human dolls. I would have been jealous and envious if it had been someone else from Serbia. When they burned our houses and churches, what a doll. It seems that burning is traditional among them. I'm sure my father is proud that his son is their biggest problem, and they killed his father and his grandfather. If only we had done that to all of Europe it would have been on our backs," said Vucic.
