This is what the Minister of Internal Affairs Oliver Spasovski wrote on his Facebook profile regarding the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Data Center.

- As a function of the digital transformation process that is taking place in society, of course the preservation of digital data and the resistance of digital ICT systems from outages by providing a backup location, enable uninterrupted work of state institutions and are of top priority, Spasovski announced.

It was financed with 3,25 million euros of pre-accession aid from the IPA funds of the EU, as well as with 150.000 euros from the Ministry of the Interior. The center, explains the Minister of the Interior, is a back-up (reserve base) for the key, vital information systems in the country and will guarantee that they will function if for any reason the work of the primary information system is threatened and will also save the data. in case of natural or man-made disasters.

With the implementation of the Business Continuity Disaster Recovery (BCDR) project, in addition to enabling the continuous operation of the systems in the event of a disaster, Spasovski underlines, an improvement was also made in terms of data digitization. Some of the applications that were made in old technologies have been converted into web-based applications, and the data that was stored in old technologies has been completely transferred to relational databases.

- With this, a higher level of digitization was achieved, so that it is now feasible and much easier to do appropriate processing on the data, digitization of statistics, reports, searches, writes Minister Spasovski and adds that it is another important step that was implemented with this project and introduction of digital signing of official reports (annual/semi-annual/monthly) through the web applications themselves with a digital signature from the Ministry of the Interior that is valid throughout the institution.

- Also, for all web applications that have been developed with this project, an audit trail has been implemented, which digitized the audit log, which is required by the law on personal data protection. A special application has also been created that enables searching through the audit log. The Ministry of the Interior has already implemented most of its ICT systems with the possibility of a redundant way of working in the COC-Prilep, Spasovski announced on Facebook.

In addition to the Ministry of the Interior, the Disaster Recovery Center is currently used by: the Center for Crisis Management, the State Statistics Office and the Customs Administration of the RSM. Interest in its use has been expressed by: Ministry of Information Society and Administration, Agency for Financial Support of Agriculture, National Bank of RSM, Financial Police Administration, Ministry of Finance, State Audit Office, and we are open to cooperation with all other entities and institutions.

According to Spasovski, the capital project Data Center in Prilep is the completion of the digital transformation of the processes of the Ministry of the Interior.
