Two girls died in a terrible traffic accident in Sofia the day before yesterday. The case began to shake Bulgaria after the driver who ran them over is the famous football player from Levski and Botev, who replaced his football career with a dealer's and sold narcotics, while working protected by corrupt police structures that will now be exposed.

A criminal complaint has been filed against the Bulgarian footballer Georgi Semerdzhiev who ran over two girls on the sidewalk in Sofia with an Audi jeep, said the deputy director of the National Investigation Service, Jasen Todorov.

Semerdzhiev was detained yesterday after he escaped from the scene of the crime, and he was detained shortly before midnight.

-However, several hours after the serious accident, he has not yet been tested for the presence of alcohol and drugs in his blood. He was remanded in custody for 72 hours and is currently in the National Investigation Service, Todorov added.

He assured that even a few hours after the incident the tests will be adequate.

- This person was searched for months, no one knew where he lived. Yesterday we entered his residence in an unconventional way, following the letter of the law. We will conduct the investigation as currently required by the Criminal Code, we will collect all possible evidence and hand it over to the prosecution, Todorov is categorical.

The worst thing is over – this man will no longer trample people on the street, added Todorov.

Asked again why there was such a long delay in sampling, he said the legislature "didn't lift a finger" and that legislative proposals "are sometimes idiotic."

An auto technical examination will determine the speed at which Georgi Semerdzhiev was moving before the collision. According to eyewitnesses, the jeep was moving at over 200 km/h.

Semerdzhiev's cocaine connections

Bulgarian media reveal that Georgi Semerdzhiev gravitates around the notorious, in criminal circles, businessman Christoforos Amanatidis.

In the operational developments, it was determined that he was responsible for the procurement and distribution of drugs (mainly cocaine) in the "Studentski" neighborhood and mainly in the nightclubs in Studentski Grad.

In recent years, Semerdzhiev took control over the dealers in the area. According to the media, there are indications that he was paying to provide a police umbrella for this activity.

And the government in Petkov's resignation sat on the case of Semerdzhiev

A press conference was held today in the building of the Council of Ministers after the meeting of the Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov with the Minister of Internal Affairs Boyko Rashkov, as well as with the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Petko Todorov and the Director of the Traffic Police Tencho Tenev on the occasion of the serious accident that it happened one day ago in Sofia in which two young lives were lost.

-Today we decided to declare war on all recidivists. A major national campaign against drug-impaired driving begins tonight. Yesterday's tragedy, like the tragedy with Milen Cvetkov, was caused by driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. No one should be above the law, announced the resigned Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov.

Bulgarian Minister of the Interior Boyko Rashkov hinted that officials from the Ministry of the Interior probably helped Semerdzhiev after the accident.

"We will try to clarify the case related to Semerdzhiev in detail. Including whether there is sufficient data on accomplice activity of employees in the Ministry of the Interior to a certain extent. "Including all the cases that we already suspect were neglected to some extent and whether someone indirectly caused this tragic outcome," he said.

Rashkov announced that Georgi Semerdzhiev has been without a license since 2005 and has been driving different vehicles until today. Regarding his past, dozens of actions were taken by the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, files were also sent to the prosecutor's office, but the prosecutor's office returned them, imposing only administrative penalties.

"I want to tell you that in the past 6 years he had a great opportunity after his license was revoked to take and get a new one. We have indisputable evidence that instead he tried to get a driver's license from Switzerland, from where we received information that a similar document was not issued to a Bulgarian citizen", said Rashkov and added that he issued an order to the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to immediately investigate all cases in which Georgi Semerdzhiev violated the law and accordingly whether the officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs completed their work.
