All 600 members of the Turkish National Assembly were sworn in on Friday, one after the other, in a process that lasted several hours.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be sworn in as president. He also attended the ceremony and was in good spirits.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence in memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

The first meeting was chaired by Devlet Bahceli from the MHP (Nationalist Action Party), who at 74 is the oldest member of parliament.

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, chairman of the Republican People's Party, watched the swearing-in from the gallery as he is no longer an MP.

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Vassilis Kaskarelis will attend the inauguration of Tayyip Erdoğan.
