Seven people were injured and two are missing after the explosion and the collapse of half of an old evangelical three-story parish building in Katowice, in the south of Poland, the firemen there said today.

It has been reported that the cause of the explosion is most likely the gas used for heating and cooking, but an investigation has been launched.

The deputy chief of the fire service Miroslav Sinovec stated that a sniffer dog is assisting in the search.

Eyewitnesses told Polish media that among the injured were small children.
