In an interview with TV Zvezda, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was asked how the war would end, to which he replied: "Every war ends in peace."

But when a journalist asked how soon peace can be expected in Ukraine, Shoigu did not answer the question and left the room. Although TV Zvezda initially published a video of the defense minister's departure, it was cut in a later statement.

Western analysts say Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely planning to drag out the war as long as possible in the hope that Western support for Ukraine will weaken.
