VIDEO: Putin met with mothers of Russian soldiers
Russian President Vladimir Putin received them today mothers and wives of Russian soldiers who are fighting in Ukraine for the first time since the beginning of the Russian invasion. The meeting happened following numerous requests from the families of Russian soldiers, who complained of a lack of basic equipment and terrible conditions. On several occasions the mothers of Russian soldiers broke into the offices of the Russian army for mobilization.
The video of the meeting was broadcast by the Russian media. At the start of the meeting, Putin said he "personally shares the pain of mothers who have lost their sons", but soon after he started talking about "fake news" about the war in Ukraine and said: "The Internet is full of deception and lies, you cannot to believe in nothing."

Putin also told the mothers that he spoke by phone with the soldiers at the front: "I spoke with them and they surprised me with their mood, their attitude. They didn't expect me to call them. Those conversations give me reason to call them heroes. That's the truth."
He also claims that the entire Russian leadership, including himself, "shares the pain of mothers." "We understand that nothing can replace a lost son, a lost child, and especially not mothers, to whom we all owe our lives.
"We will do everything so that you don't feel forgotten, everything in our power so that you have a shoulder to lean on," Putin said, adding that he had "no regrets" about the decision to launch what the Kremlin calls a special military operation in Ukraine and described the war as a "watershed moment" in which Moscow finally stood up against "Western hegemony".
Russian television did not publish the statements of the mothers of the dead soldiers.
