VIDEO | The famous Skopje hairdresser Ljupчоo Petrusevski - Bube Inn: After recovering from the diagnosis of encephalitis, nothing scares me anymore - I think I experienced all possible temptations
When it comes to life-inspiring stories, in this city, I can not leave out the man whose workplace is more like his home. Ljupчоo Petrusevski - Bube Inn I could not describe to you with the words from the dictionary, I can not convey his energy to you through the written word, but through the conversation with him and the creations he makes, I am sure we will convince you of the truth of the saying: "Where there is a will, there is a way."
Bube received the first "slap" in his life at the age of 13 when his mother died. And instead of "banging" on the ground from the strong blow, he enrolls in high school at the same time, but also starts "apprentices" in the then most famous hair salons. He got the desire for the art of hairdressing from his aunt, who he saw as "at home" skillfully arranging relatives and friends. Because he attended a vocational high school of which he had no interest - ETUC, he used every moment before or after classes to improve his hairdressing craft. For him, every move of the masters from whom he learned was admirable, he also admired the hairdressing "hoods". Although at that time, as Bube says:
- Our profession at that time was one of the most backward. People often commented: eh, will you pick on other people's heads all your life, will you pick on lice…
Photo: Free Press. When he got a job as a hairdresser, during that time, he earned a solid amount of money, because he was maximally committed, and the owner respected that. So instead of squandering money and going crazy at parties, Bube saved every penny he earned to buy equipment. At the age of 16 he opened his first hair salon. He was aware of the weight of the burden that he would carry, and he was a little scared if he would succeed in the challenge you set before him.
It is obvious that he succeeded more than he expected. The work that, in a way, helped him stay upright after the death of his greatest support, his mother, after many years, pushes him very hard. May 15, 2016, Bube receives the second "slap" in life, this time much stronger than the previous one.
- Too much stress, a salon that I opened at that time together with a partner, serving a number of regularly scheduled, but also relatives who wanted to be served day by day, shortening the time for breaks or meals, late shooting of videos and the like, you they take the tax, he says.
He experiences a stroke which as a consequence leaves his entire left side of the body paralyzed. And this was not the biggest problem for him, but how to tell the scheduled clients that he will not be able to serve them, and at that time many brides had an appointment. Luckily, the Bube Inn salon never closed. As he says himself:
- I always have a trained team by my side, I had even then, a team of 30 people who were capable enough and well trained to be able to work alone, to do things flawlessly, just like I was present. Most of the current staff is the same as when I was recovering.
And how did he recover? He says that the therapies were too expensive, and the only income with which he covered the treatment was from the salon. The people he thought were his friends until then turned their backs on him and acted as if he never existed. The only real friends were his employees and a few friends from the whole "constellation" he had before.
- To save me, at that time the doctors used corticosteroid therapy from which my bones and joints started to erode, so it was necessary to replace my right shoulder with an artificial implant. About all the expenses that were needed for the operation, I am grateful to my colleagues, who at that time organized a humanitarian action in the form of a hairdressing show "Masters for the master" and raised the necessary funds, continues Bube Inn.
Furthermore, to improve the condition, he applies all kinds of treatments, baths, physical therapies, etc., and most importantly, there is really a great improvement from the initial condition. He could hardly wait to get back to work because he knew it would actually bring him back to life. And life for him is his job. It is probably not possible for a person not to be successful if he loves what he does. Proof of this is the fact that during the pandemic, when many businesses failed, he continued to work full steam ahead, adding:
- My salon is perhaps the only one that has been practicing hygiene protocol for years, so instead of "waiting for the pandemic" and disinfecting the utensils, the premises in front of it, we immediately put the once used towel for washing and the like.
All this, together with the professionalism, talent and unconditional commitment, in addition to the existing regular clients, people who have not been to his salon for years have started to return to Bube. Although he is not able to physically attend seminars, Bube does not stop with education and drawing inspiration. He does this through online education, movies and music videos on which the big names in the hairdressing world work. On all this, he puts his own unique stamp and that is why he was and will remain one and only: Bube Inn.
