A fire broke out in a large warehouse in the Shentvid neighborhood in Ljubljana last night, causing thick smoke to spread over this part of the Slovenian capital. The locals are advised to stay in their homes and not to open the windows, reports STA.

The fire spread from pallets lined up next to the building and engulfed the warehouse of several companies that also had tires, said the Civil Protection Agency.

According to police, no one was in the building at the time of the fire. The fire was reported to the police at four o'clock in the morning.

The Ljub Ljana Firefighting Unit and several voluntary firefighting units are taking part in extinguishing the fire.

The traffic on the highway northwest of Ljubljana and on the surrounding streets is interrupted, as well as the railway traffic in the Gorenje region.
