VIDEO: Police shoot at a protest against the mobilization in the Russian republic of Dagestan
Police in the Russian Republic of Dagestan today fired warning shots from automatic weapons to disperse demonstrators who protested today's military mobilization, local activists reported.
In response to the President's order Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin since Sunday, residents of Endirey have blocked the entrance to the town to deny access to authorities, according to the civil rights website OVD-Info.
The protest was organized after 110 men were called to go to the front in Ukraine in the town, which has fewer than 8.000 inhabitants, local media reported.
Videos posted on social media show officers firing short bursts into the air, with residents on the brink of open conflict with the police. convey DPA.

After last week's announcement of a partial mobilization for the war against Ukraine, mass protests broke out across Russia, in which more than 2.000 people were arrested.
Dagestan and neighboring Chechnya are Caucasian Russian republics with predominantly Muslim populations known for bloody wars of independence in the 90s that killed thousands. Dagestan is reportedly among the Russian regions from which the most people are currently being mobilized.
