At least 10 people have been killed after heavy rains swept through the Indian state of Kerala, causing landslides and flooding.

At least 11 people have been killed and XNUMX are missing in the worst-hit Iduki and Kotayam districts, state broadcaster All India Radio reported. Among the missing are five children.

The intensity of the rain until this morning has decreased in most parts of Kerala, but it is still raining constantly.

- The situation is really serious in some parts of the country. We will do everything to save lives. We asked for help from the army, navy and air force. Aid camps have been set up in the districts, State Minister Pinarai Vijayan was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times Daily.

The Indian Meteorological Service forecasts light to moderate rain in the region in the next 24 to 48 hours.
