VIDEO: A new big fire near Makedonski Brod, where houses were also burnt to ashes
During the day, we had a total of 19 fires, of which 10 have been completely extinguished, one has been put under control, and at the moment we have eight more active fires, the director of the Crisis Management Center (CMC) Stojanche Angelov informed tonight.
As he pointed out, the most difficult situation is in the village of Taževo near Makedonski Brod, where there are several burnt houses, most of which are abandoned, but there are also houses that were used as holiday homes.
- I am in the village of Taževo. The picture is sad, mostly abandoned houses were burned, however, houses that were used by the owners were also burned. This fire near Taževo where I am now is from the side of Breznica towards Jasen and it is burning very strongly, although we operate with helicopters and with the Hungarian team of 40 firefighters and 50 soldiers of our Army, however, it is still present. Unfortunately, a high-quality pine forest is burning and it is an extremely difficult fire to extinguish, which covers a large area - said Angelov.
On the fire on Ilinska Planina, which has been burning for several days, he pointed out, this morning we worked with three air tractors, but we canceled the operation because a lot of smoke arose during the dumping of water, which made the work of the pilots difficult and had reduced visibility. On the ground are members of the local TPPE, 10 employees of National Forests and 50 volunteers.
-Above Kosel the fire changes its dynamics and is still burning. We operated there with two helicopters, and there are 60 people on the ground. The mayor of Ohrid is doing his best to bring it under control - said Angelov.
As he said, the fire near Bogdanci near the village of Furka is also active today.
- We operate there with six air tractors, but the fire is still active, burning dry grass and low vegetation. The watchtower was also threatened, but thanks to the intervention of the Army, I think there is no more danger - said Angelov.
He emphasized that today they had to withdraw the aircraft several times due to strong wind.
- The plan changes, and it is flexible depending on the picture on the ground - said Angelov.
