VIDEO | Biden's new gaffe: He confused these two countries and remembered that he was wrong
US President Joe Biden made another gaffe at a news conference after the NATO summit in Madrid today, mistakenly saying that neutral Switzerland is joining NATO - instead of Sweden.
The American leader quickly corrected himself, joking that he must be excited about the Alliance's enlargement process.
Biden made the remarks at the end of a NATO summit in Spain, where the great news was that Turkey had withdrawn its objections to Sweden and Finland joining the alliance.
He described the process as two nations filed a petition following Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine. First, an invitation arrived from the leader of Finland, asking him to visit the White House.

"We received a phone call… He suggested we call the leader of Switzerland.," He said before realizing his mistake.
"Switzerland, my God, I am very excited about NATO enlargement," Biden added.
