VIDEO | Storm in Russia: It rained in six hours like in a month - everything is under water
It rained in Yalta in six hours as much as it normally rains in a month, the Crimean Hydrometeorological Center said. The situation is difficult, and the head of the local administration, Yannina Pavlenko, asked for help from the commander of the Black Sea Fleet.
As it is stated, from midnight to six in the morning, 42 mm of rain fell, and in some areas even 84, while the monthly norm is 72 mm.
Smaller rivers overflowed their banks and flooded the streets, threatening to endanger the electricity system.
A state of emergency has been declared and people are being evacuated in some areas. They will be accommodated in hotels and resorts, and will be provided with three meals a day. Experts will approach the damage assessment.
