With our eminent artist, caricaturist, illustrator and art historian, Natasha Kostovska in "Morning Press" we talked about her rich creativity, her work as a cartoonist and of course the collaboration with Free Press, where her caricatures have appeared on the front page every Saturday for 7 years.

"Since I know myself, I have always wanted to create something, and I finished art history thanks to my father, who did not allow me to go to applied art, which was my original desire. The Faculty of Art History had the most points of contact with the profession that I now work and love. In fact, a teacher of mine, who taught me in high school, Elena Koleva, played the biggest role in my determination to choose art history by inviting me to that faculty and I listened to her and I was not wrong, because she correctly assessed what it suits me best", says Natasha about her beginnings and why she chose to do art.

Natasha is a versatile artist who, in addition to caricature and illustration as an artistic expression, also deals with another type of applied art. She is skilled at creating her own creations, which abound in her home.

"Design comes from my desire to create something. These are usually the moments when I lose my job, which happened when the news agency "Nova Makedonija" collapsed and "Osten", the magazine I worked for, collapsed. In those moments, I have the desire to do something, which is not an illustration, a caricature, then I start working with different materials. I make dolls for my own pleasure, to create something with my own hands, that is very important to me, and it is very nice for me when I make something out of nothing, for example, a doll that is interesting and a little funny. I have always thought of myself as having a gift, to make 'cute-funny' or 'cute-ugly' characters, but always have something funny, and not be a literal reflection of nature, because nature is the best creator and she I can't imitate," Natasha explains her love for design and art in general.

Natasha says that our society is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, and the Macedonian people are on the one hand self-righteous and on the other hand bitter towards themselves, but they hardly accept a joke at their own expense.

"I don't have any trouble with inspiration at the moment, because we live in a society where a scandal happens every day. But not only the scandals, but the behavior of people and politicians in general, without apostrophizing any party, daily events, black chronicles, media, all this inspires me every second. A caricature should not only criticize, sometimes it can also express itself affirmatively, but unfortunately, I think that in our country such a caricature can no longer be made, so everything else that happens is a daily inspiration and it is very easy for me to paint her. The most difficult moment for me is when I take a personal position in relation to a situation, and I have to present it without anyone being offended."
