At least 15 people have died and eight are missing in floods and landslides in Haiti after heavy rains, authorities said.

Nearly 13.400 people were forced to evacuate as hundreds of homes across the country were flooded and some streets turned into rivers, the Civil Protection Agency said.

More than 7.400 families have reported damage, and authorities are still assessing the effects of rains that hit Haiti over the weekend.

Heavy rains also caused significant damage to crops in central Haiti.

Prime Minister Ariel Henri said he was working with local and international organizations to provide aid to those affected by the floods.
