The New York Times published a compilation of footage and an article which, as they write, shows what the years of Putin's deception and the dizziness of Western leaders looked like.

Footage from international meetings and speeches over the past 20 years shows that Vladimir Putin has been warmly received by world leaders, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former US President George W. Bush.

"Even if they simply decided to give him a chance for political purposes, they took a risk on a historical scale - be nice to Putin and maybe he will pay you back," wrote Adam Westbrook. "While it is debatable whether Western governments could have predicted Putin's bloody visions, let us be clear about one thing: personal diplomacy does not work when you need it most," Westbrook said.

While in power, Bush said of Putin: "I have found him very open and confidential. I could feel his soul. "I would not have invited him to my ranch if I did not trust him."

At the same time, Blair said: "The role that Russia has played in the international community since 11/XNUMX is extraordinary."

French President Nicolas Sarkozy described Putin as "very intelligent". During his presidency of the United States, Barack Obama praised the "extraordinary" work that Putin has done for his people.
