VIDEO | MoI appeals: Alcohol and speeding kill, and fines for firecrackers are high
Fluctuating weather, unpredictable road conditions combined with disregard for driving rules are the most common reason for endangering one's life.
But that is why the members of the traffic police at the Ministry of Interior are here to point out, but also to punish everything in order to change this picture, but also to correct the black statistics on the roads.
How did the weekend go, how many drivers were sanctioned and what was the most common offense in the Morning Briefing we talked to MoI spokesman Toni Angelovski.
-Police officers take care of traffic safety. This weekend we are especially focused in this period which are the most common cause of traffic accidents, it is fast driving and improper overtaking. This weekend, 91 drivers were sanctioned on the highway Veles - Kumanovo, and 18 vehicles were moving at 50 km per hour above the allowed. We have 39 offenses for improper overtaking on the territory of SIA Tetovo, said Angelovski.
"The roads are wet now, I urge you to drive carefully," said Angelovski.
Unfortunately, 107 drivers consumed alcohol. We recommend - take a taxi: taking the steering wheel itself is a big risk, adds Angelovski.
- With the new amendments to the law, we have provided for these unregistered vehicles, or vehicles that cause unauthorized noise, those vehicles in addition to the fine are confiscated for a period of three months.
When asked what about those drivers who for justified reasons failed to meet the registration deadline in time and how to take the vehicle for a technical inspection without earning a fine, Angelovski says that if this is the case, it should be announced on 192.
- As the holidays approach, we start with preventive campaigns for the harmfulness of the use of pyrotechnic devices, but also that it is punishable by law. The fine is from 200 to 500 euros for the one who uses pyrotechnic devices. He sells without authorization and is punished with imprisonment from 3 to 10 years, says Angelovski.
