VIDEO | Massive Ukrainian drone attack on Russian territory, burning factories, gas and oil storage facilities

World news agencies are reporting that Ukraine is currently conducting a massive drone attack on Russian regions.

Namely, as the BBC writes, the city of Engels was attacked, where a fire at an oil depot had been extinguished for five days. Authorities confirmed damage to two industrial enterprises in Saratov and Engels. At the same time, a gas tanker was hit, which caught fire in the suburbs of Kazan after the attack as a result of a drone strike, the press service of the head of Tatarstan reported.

The governors of the Tula, Oryol and Rostov regions also reported a massive drone attack.

According to the Kyiv Independent, the target of the drone attack was the Russian Kazanorgsintez factory in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, during the attack during the night of January 14, with the remains of the drone causing a fire, according to several local Telegram channels.

The Telegram channel Vechernaya Kazan reported that the attack hit a liquefied gas storage facility, setting the gas tanks on fire. Russian authorities confirmed that a fire broke out in the city as a result of the drone strike, but said it did not cause significant damage.

Ukrainian authorities have not yet said they are behind the attacks.

Meanwhile, videos posted on various channels show a large fire at an industrial site in Russia that has not yet been identified. According to eyewitnesses, drones were heard flying over the village of Osinovo, followed by an explosion near the plant. Local authorities did not reveal further details about the target location.

Official Moscow reported a major attack by Ukrainian drones across several regions overnight, with an industrial facility in the Saratov region reportedly set on fire. As reported by Russian Telegram channels, the Kazanorsintez plant, which produces pyrolysis, polyethylene and polycarbonate, was hit.

Ukraine has also targeted Russian facilities critical to its war effort against Ukraine, prioritizing factories related to the oil and chemical industries on its target list.

As it conveys CNN, the Shot Telegram channel reported that Russia had shot down more than 200 Ukrainian drones and five US-made ATACMS ballistic missiles.

Kiev and Moscow have stepped up their attacks in recent months ahead of Donald Trump's return to the White House on January 20, after the newly elected US president announced his intention to immediately end the war upon taking office.

Ukraine has regularly attacked military targets and energy sites in Russia in response to Moscow's attacks on its territory since 2022.
