"Europe will fund all good ideas aimed at protecting human rights and freedoms and guaranteeing the prospect of countries being culturally, civilizationally and educationally connected within the European Union," he said. Ilhan Kucuk on the sidelines of the conference BGMK2030 "Civic contribution to building trust, unity and alliance".
- We gave a good assessment of what has been achieved in the past few weeks. We start a joint discussion and continue with our program, during which we will visit a school in Cair. What is important is to mention good examples within the educational process. "Our goal is to connect schools and create new opportunities for young people," Kucuk added.
Asked if a European perspective and solution is possible, if the Bulgarian side denies the Macedonian minority, and seeks the inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution, Kucuk said that such a request exists not only from Bulgarians, but also from Croats and Montenegrins.
- And they want to be written in the Constitution of the Republic of Northern Macedonia. It should happen in a reasonable way and within the procedures. The process is long, but I see that there is a desire to talk about this topic, said Kucuk.
Not giving a decisive answer about the rights of Macedonians in Bulgaria, he stressed that solutions will be reached together with the educational, cultural and infrastructure connection.
Asked if he was in communication with Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, Kucuk said he had not met with him, stressing that as the European Parliament's rapporteur for the country his task was to work actively with the citizens of Northern Macedonia and representatives of political structures.
- To hear every single voice, which will tell me in which direction the Macedonian democracy is moving, how high the standards are, where there are concessions, added Kucuk.
