Five candidates for mayor entered the race for mayor of Kumanovo in these local elections, and besides the current mayor Maksim Dimitrievski, who will run as an independent candidate, entered the race SDSM candidate Oliver Ilievski, VMRO-DPMNE, Toni Mihajlovski, LDP and DOM, Teodora Dimitrovska and the candidate of the Alliance for Albanians and Alternative, Bekim Saliu.

Some of the candidates presented their visions for the development of the municipality, which is the largest in the country, tonight at TV21 debate, in which Mihajlovski and Dimitrovska did not participate.

Dimitrievski, who goes to the polls on his own after entering into a conflict with SDSM and was expelled from the party, pointed out, according to him, the most important achievements in the current term:municipal debt relief, school renovation and hundreds of projects.

"We have implemented over 400 projects. Kumanovo was one of the most indebted municipalities. We work very hard, dedicated, with big savings. And we have realized serious capital projects. Kumanovo today is one of the best lit municipalities. It is not true that the government repaid half of the debt of the municipality, because it was not 3.9 million euros, but the debt was much higher. The basic debt is considered here, but we repaid it before those funds came and before. Some municipalities did not do that, so one municipality in Ohrid and Tetovo received 7,8 times more funds than the municipality of Kumanovo. It is true that we received approximately 2 million euros, but we repaid the debt together with interest around 11 and a half million euros ", said Dimitrievski.

His party colleague Ilievski announced yesterday that if he is elected mayor, will strengthen ties with the central government to apply for projects that will improve the lives of citizens in the municipality.

"The cooperation between the local and central government should be at a higher level, more dynamic, in order for the Municipality of Kumanovo to apply with projects to the central government, so that we know the currents, which projects will be published, and in order for those projects to "to be realized for the municipality," he said.

Saliu announced that will focus on economic development, in order to prevent, according to him, the biggest problem of Kumanovo - the departure of young people abroad.

"We will make Kumanovo a better place to live." Economic development will be a major impetus to prevent mass migration of young people. "The basis of our program is to restore the hope of the citizens, so that only promises remain," Saliu said, adding that he was against the bombastic promises and that he would strive to "restore the panorama of reality" in the municipality.
