Hundreds of demonstrators, mostly girls and women, gathered today for a protest in front of the editorial office of the pro-government tabloid "Informer" in the center of Belgrade, demanding responsibility from the owner and the editor for the published interview with a convicted serial rapist.

The participants protested about the published interview with Igor Milosevic. The tabloid devotes the entire front page of the new issue to him, in which he boasts that he has spent only three months in freedom since he was 14 years old.

Milosevic was recently released after a multi-year prison sentence, and numerous women's and civil society organizations in Serbia have expressed fear that he may repeat the acts, pointing to the danger of his free movement in public.

The demonstrators chanted "You are raping Serbia!".

"Serial rapists have no place in the public space, the media and shows, but in prison," the protest said.

Journalist associations, numerous opposition parties and representatives of civil society in Serbia condemned the editorial move of "Informer" and its owner and editor-in-chief. Dragan J. Vucicevic, warning that the journalistic code and all moral norms were explicitly violated with that interview.
