VIDEO INTERVIEW | Svetlana Jovanovska: I am very lucky to be doing what I love
You must have heard her powerful voice and felt her infectious energy every time she performed.
In this episode of "Free with Agnesa" we present her Svetlana Jovanovska, one of the most prominent female vocalists in Macedonia, with a 20-year career and many performances.
Svetlana is also recognizable by her original stamp – shiny red hair, wide smile, sparkling eyes... Despite everything, she always finds time for herself, grateful for every moment, Svetlana explains to us.
- I am very lucky to be doing what I love for many years - says Svetlana.
Svetlana's musical development began at an early age, singing in famous children's choirs and festivals such as "Pletenka", "Golden Nightingale", "Razvigorche", etc. She is best known as the frontman of the band South Park, which has become an inevitable part of the Skopje night scene since the early 2000s. Over the years, "South Park" has changed its composition, and now it has five members, of which Svetlana has been the band's vocalist since the beginning. After many years of career, they also released the author's song "Najmil moj", produced by Aleksandar Ristovski - Prinz.
– At that time in the garage where we were rehearsing, one of the guys who used to play with us, brought a poster, let's say, with our characters made in the style of "South Park" characters. And when we had to arrange the first gig, we didn't have a name. "What will we be called?" - "South Park" we will be called. And it stayed like that... - says Svetlana for "Sloboden Pechat" about how the band got the name "South Park".
She is also known for cultivating her own style and original songs that adorn their performances. Svetlana is also known as a soloist, performing with the Macedonian Philharmonic, as well as at the prestigious music festival of fun tunes "Makfest".
When asked how she always looks so fresh and positive, Svetlana answered us that not everything looks as it is on stage. She must be prepared, rested and fed, concludes the singer. She has several gigs a week, which is not at all easy as it seems, especially since she has another parallel profession.
