VIDEO INTERVIEW | Gjorgi Ilovski from SMAT: People who listen to us support our views, and that is enough
Macedonian musician Gjorgi Ilovski is the frontman of the hardcore band SMUT., who appeared on the Macedonian music scene in the early 2000s and continues to push the boundaries of Macedonian metal music to this day.
SMAT continue to fascinate fans and new generations with powerful messages through their songs as well as progressive sound. Their music spans several genres with a large admixture of classical elements, hard-core, melodic punk, metal and hip-hop.
– SMAT is stylish… I always call it a monster that we, the band, make ourselves. It's a compilation of everything we all want to hear and put it under one style. Hard-core, yes, maybe it's the attitudes, to cover all our tastes, and to package it, still be and sound like SMAT - says Gjorgji for "Sloboden Pechat".
The band is composed of Gjorgji Ilovski - vocalist, Blagoja Antovski on drums, Darko Najdovski on bass and guitarists Dejan Nikolovski and Goran Ristevski.
About the very beginnings, Gjorgi explains that his original plan was not to be the vocalist of the band.
– First, the plan was not for me to be the singer, we didn't talk about it. The plan was completely different, but since everyone else bought instruments, I was left with only that, I hadn't bought any instruments yet. "Well, I will sing..." - explains Gjorgi.
In the texts of their songs, social and social topics are dealt with, which have a strong impact on the listeners.
- The people who listen to us support our views and music, and that, I think, is enough - adds Gjorgi.
SMAT has released the studio albums "SMUT" (1996), "Forever is not enough" (2003), "All I Have" (2007), "Memoirs of a Broken Man" (2012) and "They're Everywhere" (2018). , and they held many concerts.
The band is currently working on a new album, which Gjorgi says will be different from the others so far.
