The ticker Leena Mukherjee is sentenced to two years in prison in Indonesia because of a video of her reciting Islamic prayer, and then eats pork meat, which drew widespread condemnation in the Muslim-majority country. The video went viral and garnered millions of views.

In the video, Lina frowns as she recites the Muslim prayer before eating the crispy pork skin. Someone reported her, so the Palembang City Court Influencer was found guilty of "dissemination of information aimed at inciting hatred against religious individuals and certain groups".

Mukherjee, herself a Muslim, was also heavily fined for the video - ordered to pay 250 million rupees (€15.000).

Indonesia is the largest Muslim-majority nation in the world and has strict blasphemy laws.

According to Islam, pork is considered haram, that is, a sin.

Lina told reporters after the trial that she was surprised by the verdict.

"I know I'm guilty, but I didn't expect this punishment," Lina told local station Metro TV.

Indonesia's highest Muslim clerical body, the Indonesian Ulema Council, ruled her video blasphemous.

The popular influencer has more than 2,2 million followers on TikTok. Her case is the latest in a series of high-profile blasphemy convictions in recent years.

Last year, six people were arrested after a bar chain promoted free alcohol to patrons called Mohammed. And in 2017, the Christian former governor of Jakarta was thrown behind bars after being accused of insulting Islam.
