Navalny (44) was arrested last night at Sheremetyevo Airport, after arriving from Germany, and was brought before the court today.
He condemned the proceedings in his case today as "completely illegal". "I do not understand what is happening. "I have seen many parodies of justice, but this is completely illegal," Navalny said in a video posted on Twitter by his spokeswoman Kira Yarmis.

Navalny also said he was surprised why the trial against him was being held in a police station and not in a real courtroom.
"This process is being led by that 'grandfather (Putin) who is sitting in a bunker' because he is afraid of everything," Navalny said.
The Russian Criminal Sanctions Bureau announced that Navalny had been issued a warrant on December 29, 2020, for "multiple violations" while he was on probation and that he would be in jail until the next court ruling.
Navalny decided to return to Russia despite the threat of imprisonment.
