Macedonia is facing a difficult and uncertain winter with full hospitals and high mortality if the vaccination remains at the current percentage, warns the famous Croatian molecular biologist Ivan Dzikic, broadcast by Sitel TV.

- The problem in Macedonia is long-term. Until you cross the threshold of 60-70 percent vaccinated which is very difficult if you are now at 37 percent. Until you reach the required percentage, Macedonia will be a country where the risk for the number of deaths will be very high. "If you are below 50 percent it is alarming and a message should be sent to the government that this situation must not be allowed to remain because in winter you will have not 7000, but probably several thousand more," said prof. Dr. Dzikic.

For the low percentage of vaccinations in many countries, including Macedonia, Dzikic sees the problem in the institutions that run the country.

- The low percentage of unvaccinated is the distrust of the citizens in their government. That is the main reason. The other reason is that the governments did not behave correctly, the vaccination campaigns were not well prepared and there is no public accountability. When you put it all together, then you have citizens who say "I do not want, I am afraid," says Dzikic.
