VIDEO | The mayor of Dubrovnik: Stay at home, the city is under water

A strong storm followed by heavy rains hit the Croatian city of Dubrovnik, after which parts of the city were under water.

The most critical is on the coast of Lapad, where huge amounts of rain fell. The water entered the houses, and some cars remained under water.

The mayor of Dubrovnik, Mato Franković, spoke about the situation.

"Dear fellow citizens, the extreme amount of rainfall has flooded almost all the streets in the city. All emergency services are on the ground. Unfortunately, this is not the end. According to the forecasts, from 15:23 to XNUMX:XNUMX, additional rainfall is expected, which will cause even greater problems. Please stay in your homes unless it is absolutely necessary to go out. Protect your property. Our emergency services will make every effort to pump the water out of the buildings, but in such extreme conditions it is impossible to completely prevent flooding," Franković said.
