A large fire broke out early this morning in the building of Parliament in the capital of South Africa, Cape Town. In the video, as told the BBC, a cloud of black smoke fills the sky, and a large flame rises from the roof of the building.

No one was injured in the blaze, a Cape Town fire department spokesman said. Jermaine Carellsi. He added that more than 35 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire.

"The fire spread to the roof," he said Jean-Pierre Smith, a member of the Cape Town mayor's board responsible for security, added that the fire was so strong that there were already "reports of cracks in some walls".

The fire broke out on the third floor of the building, and initial reports indicate that it broke out in the office space and spread to the hall, Smith said.

The roof caught fire and the building of the National Assembly was on fire. Dozens of firefighters who initially went to the scene asked for additional help.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
