VIDEO | A large explosion at a building near Geneva airport
A large fire broke out in a building near the Geneva airport today, after a strong explosion, due to which the air traffic was interrupted, the "Daily Mail" reported in London.
Photos and videos posted on the newspaper's portal show the explosion, fire and thick smoke rising from the building to the airport.
A spokesman for Switzerland's second busiest airport, Ignas Janera, said the new asylum reception center, which was currently under reconstruction, had been set on fire.
Eyewitnesses say they first heard a loud explosion, after which a fire broke out.
All landings at Geneva airport have been canceled, while takeoffs have been decided individually by the pilots.
