VIDEO: Big forest fire on Thassos
A large forest fire in the eastern part of the Greek island of Thassos has been active since last night, and this morning, the coastal village of Kinira was evacuated as a precaution, the MIA correspondent from Athens reported.
The fire is in a mountainous impassable area, 102 firefighters with five infantry teams and 33 vehicles, six airplanes and six helicopters, one of which is for coordination, intervene, and volunteer firefighters, the army, as well as tankers and vehicles from the municipalities are helping.
Most of the firefighters on the island arrived from northern Greece.
Through the number 112 for emergencies, a message was sent to the residents and those who are in the village of Kinira, to evacuate to Limenaria as a precaution.
