In a dramatic combined action from the air and from the ground, today, a 68-year-old woman - a tourist from the Czech Republic, with a dangerous fracture of her leg, was rescued on Galichica, at about 2 meters above sea level, by the rescuers from the Mountain Rescue Service at the Ohrid Red Cross , and with an intervention helicopter transport of the Ministry of the Interior, first of the rescuers, and then, after providing first aid, transport of the injured to the nearest place for providing appropriate specialized medical treatment. The rescue operation took place literally in the intervening time of transporting volunteers and water when extinguishing a fire on Mount Galichica, after which the brave volunteer rescuers from Ohrid and the pilots of the Ministry of the Interior returned to extinguishing the big fire on the mountain.

In particular, the call for help was received at 112 at CMC, around 13.50:XNUMX p.m., and then the Department of Operations and Coordination of CMC immediately contacted the volunteer rescuers from Ohrid, who have been engaged practically for a week to put out the fire in the National Park. "Galičica" and directly with its members, and also for logistical support of other firefighting forces.

For these few days, they have been transported to the difficult-to-access terrain by helicopter of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with only fire-fighting equipment, and they mainly act on the ground as firefighters in difficult-to-access mountainous terrain. They did not have adequate medical equipment with them, but due to the speed of action with the helicopter of the Ministry of the Interior, part of the volunteer rescuers immediately went to the scene of the accident and with improvised means immobilized the injured elderly tourist from the Czech Republic, and then carried her to the point where they could to put her in the helicopter of the Ministry of the Interior.

Practically, at 15.30:XNUMX p.m. the injured woman was safely transferred to the special hospital for orthopedics and traumatology, and the team of volunteers - rescuers from the Mountain Rescue Service at the Ohrid Red Cross returned to help their other members and the firefighters and rangers from NP "Galičica" in the fight with the fire element.

Kudos to the brave rescuers and pilots of the Ministry of the Interior who show in action how all volunteers and members of institutions and services act unitedly and coordinated during rescue in life-threatening situations in our country, something that gives an incentive to build on such cooperation.
