VIDEO | DLUM celebrates its jubilee with the largest exhibition in history
The Association of Fine Artists of Macedonia marks 75 years since its establishment with an exhibition in Cifte Amam and Mala Stanica, objects of the National Gallery of the Republic of Northern Macedonia. It is about 292 works by the same number of authors.
"It simply came to our notice then to come together after many years, to see all together from the founders to the youngest generation, it must be said that it took a lot of effort to organize this important jubilee for us. During these 75 years there have been many historical changes, which have brought changes in the culture and in fact the historical, stylistic and artistic changes can be seen even now in the exhibition. The number of 292 authors came out by chance: in the spring we organized a public call to our members, about 132 authors applied, but since many were missing, in cooperation with Maja Cankulovska and the director of the National Gallery, Dita Starova, we decided to use the depot this institution which is very rich and from there to bring out artists who were really missing. The works of the founders Nikola Martinoski, Lazar Lichenoski, Borko Lazevski, Dimce Koco, Niko Tozi, those who realized the idea to unite the guild in 1946 are represented in the exhibitions. The idea for the High School of Art and later for the establishment of the National Gallery came from DLUM. "Here are the works of the first professors at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Petar Hadzi Boskov, Dragutin Avramovski Gute, up to the young generation that is still coming and is a new energy in the Society, but also on the Macedonian contemporary art scene," he told Utrinski briefing. Diana Tomic Radevska, President of the Art Council of DLUM.
She stressed that this guild association faces many challenges in order to improve the status of artists, such as the issue of fees for artistic work that is not yet provided in many competitions, such as the existence of freelance artists who have to secure a salary.
