For those who love winter sports and snow This is the most beautiful part of the year, especially this year, because the snow, at least in terms of precipitation in higher places and in the ski centers in the country, we got in sufficient quantities to be able to enjoy it.

Of course, he is welcome for a successful tourist season, and this year it can be said that at least for now the interest is great, especially during the weekends when most of the citizens of Skopje in an attempt to briefly escape from the city in the fresh mountain air head exactly to these centers.

What is the tourist season like, what is the tourist offer at the moment, are there any vacancies in the accommodation facilities, in the morning briefing we talked with the director of the ski center "Mavrovo", Ognjan Cigovski.

- We can say that the most successful season in the last 10-15 years is in sight, because the snow came earlier, skiing started in mid-December and the cold weather allowed the Resort "Mavrovo" to make artificial snow which together with the natural snow makes the trails should be really ideal for skiers, says Cigovski.

According to him, Mavrovo is the leading ski center in the country for several reasons.

- Mavrovo is ahead of the organization itself, the system of making artificial snow, the infrastructure - the three cable cars, 11 ski lifts. This year we can also boast of a new restaurant located at the top of the ski resort with a capacity of 300 seats and about 1000 for sitting outside. A beautiful, grand facility was built with the help of the EU and the attendance itself indicates that it was really the right move of the resort "Mavrovo", as an investment for this ski season, says Cigovski.

The highest attendance is on weekends, and the extended winter break for students has contributed to the increase in the number of tourists in Mavrovo and because of the pandemic people want to stay outdoors, and the snow is an ideal choice.

- We can notice that this year the accommodation facilities are really full, both hotel and private. For the weekends we have 2500 to 3500 visitors, so except for insignificant crowds in the parking lot, we have no crowds in other places, says Cigovski.

He stressed that Mavrovo is visited besides domestic and foreign tourists, this season mostly from southern Serbia and Russia.

Mavrovo is not only a winter tourist center but is also visited during the summer season.

- Our intention is for Mavrovo to function 12 months a year, said the director Cigovski.
