39-year-old American athlete Justin Gatlin is ending his rich but turbulent career. It has been announced that he will run the last race at the rally on September 14 this year in Bellinzona, Switzerland.

Gatlin is one of the best sprinters in history, and his career has been marred by controversy. He was twice suspended for two years for doping, returned and won again.

Gatlin is the winner of five Olympic sprint medals and the 100m champion from Athens. The biggest victory in his career is certainly the one from London in 2017, when he became world champion, defeating the legendary Bolt, who retired after that.

The highlights of Gatlin's career occurred at the 2004 Athens Olympics, when he won three medals. He triumphed in the 100m, took silver in the 4x100m relay and won bronze in the 200m. His personal record in the 100 meters is 9,74 seconds, and in the 200 meters it is 19,57 seconds.

The 12-time World Cup medalist was fined for doping in 2006. Four years later, he returned to the track and at the age of 30 became the second fastest man in the world with 9,80 seconds.

At the London 2012 Olympics, Gatlin won a bronze medal in the 100 meters. He was again on the podium at the Rio Games, this time with silver.
