Bulgarian nationalists stage anti-government protest in central Sofia tonight, demanding PM's resignation Kiril Petkov, local media reported.

The protest is for "defense of the national interest of Bulgaria in the Republic of Northern Macedonia and was announced as a rally-concert organized by the party VMRO.

- This is a protest warning. We have information that on the 24th of this month the government of Kiril Petkov is preparing to lift the veto on the start of negotiations for Macedonia's EU membership. If that happens, we will block the whole country - said Alexander Sidi from VMRO.

He categorically condemned the "hate speech" against Bulgaria "against our western neighbor". According to the honorary president of VMRO, Krasimir KarakachanovPetkov hopes that with the votes of PP, DB and MRF, the veto on Skopje will fall.

- Petkov may be the most unsuccessful and funniest Prime Minister of Bulgaria, but he is the one who makes the best use of the situation. He acts as a service staff, and not as the prime minister of a sovereign state - added Karakachanov.

According to protesters, Kiril Petkov's government has failed to govern the country and in recent months has spent more time on the war in Ukraine than on domestic problems in Bulgaria. Kostadin Kostadinov's party, Revival (V'zrazhdane), expressed the view that Petkov should resign, hold new elections and then start reviving, in accordance with the national interests of the state.
