VIDEO | "Be Safe" - An application to help women and children victims of violence
To find a way to contribute to the safety of women victims of violence, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) together with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP), the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Health and 18 civil organizations working in this area, have made the phone application "Be Safe".
-Mobile application means an opportunity for victims to seek help when they are in a situation of danger and a place where they can find information about all the services offered to victims of gender-based violence and domestic violence. It is intended for all of us, you can download it on your phones and find useful information about what violence is, what types of violence there are, but most importantly how to seek help through the SOS helpline for victims that it edits National Council for Gender Equality. At the same time, we want to raise awareness of the importance of reacting when witnessing violence, reporting violence, and supporting victims. Through the mobile application we would like to place this information in a more modern way- says for "Morning briefing" on "Slobodna TV" Zaklina Gestakovska Aleksovska, gender specialist at UNDP.
"Through the application you can directly connect with organizations that provide psycho-social support, organizations that provide free legal aid, shelter centers and maybe not directly the victim, but someone who knows her can tell her how to get help and support." says Zaklina Gestakovska Aleksovska, gender specialist at UNDP.
She added that the data is worrying because in Macedonia 45% of women have ever been victims of some form of violence, and only 2% report that this application can help change that.
