VIDEO | Andonovic: Military exercise or discreet message - Russian strategic missile forces have started maneuvers!

In Russia, the command and staff exercises of the strategic missile forces with the "Yars" complexes have begun, the press service of the Ministry of Defense announced. More than three thousand soldiers and about 300 pieces of heavy weapons are involved in these military maneuvers.
"In accordance with the strategic missile forces training plan for 2023, the strategic missile forces command commission is conducting a comprehensive control check of the Omsk missile formation with a command-staff exercise with the Novosibirsk missile formation equipped with PGRK (mobile ground-based missile) "Yars ", the announcement states.
The purpose of the exercises is to check the consistency of the actions of military personnel in the performance of tasks, the Russian Strategic Missile Forces Command said.
During the Yars exercise, it will perform maneuvers in three regions of Russia. In addition, missile engineers, in cooperation with formations of the Central Military District and the Air Force, will develop camouflage of missile systems and counter modern reconnaissance equipment from the air, including various drones.
Intercontinental ballistic missile RS-24 Yars has been used in the operational needs of the Russian strategic forces since 2010. The rocket is powered by solid fuel. It is a rocket with a length of 23 m and a diameter of 2 m. The missile can carry four independently aimed MIRV nuclear warheads, each of which has a thrust of 550 kg. With this missile, the Russians planned to first replace the old R-36M missiles, or according to the NATO classification SS-18 Satan, and later the Topol M. However, from 2022 all these missiles will be gradually replaced by a new intercontinental ballistic missile "Sarmat". These missiles are in operational use in two versions, a mobile version and a stationary version for missile silos.
Earlier, the Russian Navy released a video of a P-720 Mosquito anti-ship missile being launched into the Sea of Japan at a fake target - a ship that was 100 kilometers away.
Namely, as announced, the launch took place in Peter the Great Bay, about 700 kilometers from the Japanese island of Hokkaido. As it was added, two anti-ship missiles of the Mosquito type, which have been in use for a long time, and some call them "guided daggers" due to the high speed of movement, were launched at the target.
This is the second time since Russia has conducted intensive exercises in the Pacific, specifically the Pacific Fleet. Incidentally, while Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was in Kiev visiting Ukrainian President Zelensky, there were two TU-95MS strategic bombers flying across Japan on a routine seven-hour flight, which some interpreted as a message to the Japanese Prime Minister.
Western analysts point out that this military exercise with anti-ship missiles is also a message to Japan, whose navy is currently expanding and is the best equipped in the Pacific Ocean region after the United States, while it is behind China only in aircraft carriers, but they are equal in terms of on destroyers and cruisers. Compared to the Soviet Navy's golden age, the Pacific Fleet remained a pale shadow and somewhat neglected relative to the Russian Navy's Northern, Baltic, and Black Sea Fleets.
