VIDEO | Andonovic: Withdrawal of the Kosovo police from Zvečan is expected, again gathering of Kosovo Serbs in front of the municipal buildings

The withdrawal of the special units of the Kosovo Police from the municipal building in Zvečan is expected by 15 pm at the latest, sources from the Serbian interim administration confirmed. According to the member of the interim administration of the municipality of Zvečan Dragan Nedeljkovic, this was promised to them during last night's negotiations with the commander of KFOR, who, as he says, gave them these guarantees, but there is still no information whether it has been fulfilled.

In the meantime, the Serbian media reported that the two Serbs who were detained during yesterday's clashes with the Kosovo Police and KFOR in Zvečan, have been released, and two have been sentenced to 48 hours of detention.

Over a dozen citizens and around 25 members of KFOR were injured yesterday in the clashes that took place in the late afternoon in front of the building of the municipality of Zvečan, when the gathered Serbs refused to let three armored police vehicles pass, after several hours of negotiations and protests, asking the special units of the Kosovo police to leave Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok.

Last night, the Kosovo police presented a long list of what they accused the protesters of. She accused them of "provoking the situation", attacking the police and KFOR, writing provocative Serbian and Russian symbols on police and KFOR vehicles, and setting several official police vehicles on fire.

In the meantime, in front of the building of the municipality of Leposavic and Zvecan, a large number of citizens gathered again this morning, and the newly elected mayor of the municipality of Leposavic, Lulzim Hetemi, spent the night in the building.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in an extraordinary address that in yesterday's clashes in the north of Kosovo, more than 50 Serbs were injured, three of whom were seriously wounded. Vucic accused Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti of causing the conflict.

On the occasion of the Kosovo conflict, the President of Serbia spoke by phone with the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, and informed them about the situation, saying that it was "organized by Albin Kurti" and that everyone knew about it. for days. Vucic therefore asked Borel and Tajani "to reason with him", Vucic's office said.

The violence in the north of Kosovo has been condemned by the United States, Germany, Italy, the European Union and the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).

This morning in Belgrade, Vucic called a meeting with the representatives of the countries of the Quintet (USA, Britain, Germany, Italy and France), and separate meetings with the ambassadors of Russia and China.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama told the authorities in Pristina to listen carefully to their allies and not to follow the path that will cause damage to Kosovo. It's not an appeal, it's a need," Rama wrote on Twitter.

A large number of Kosovo Serbs yesterday protested against the newly elected Albanian mayors in the municipalities with a majority Serb population Severna Mitrovica, Zvechane, Leposavic and Zubin Potok.

The new mayors were sworn in on Friday and entered their municipal buildings guarded by a large number of special police officers.

In the extraordinary local elections on April 23 of this year, which the Serbs boycotted after leaving the central and local institutions earlier last November, the candidates of the parties of the ethnic Albanians won, but with an extremely low turnout of citizens with the right to vote.
